The Braintree Light Board sets BELD’s electric rates.
Sean Powers will be a voice for rate payers.
“BELD is a critically important resource for our community. With everything else costing you more in your family’s budget, we need to keep our rates low and affordable. Making capital expenditures to our electrical infrastructure to maintain our reliable power will be a priority of mine. We also need to reinvest in Braintree through economic development and environmental projects that all our residents can enjoy. BELD has a role to play and that’s why I ask for your vote on Tuesday, November 4th.”

Braintree powered by smart policy.
Keeping our electric rates low and affordable
Braintree enjoys some of the lowest electric rates around. Our neighboring towns pay double what we pay. As your Light Commissioner, Sean will always work to keep our electric rates low by ensuring the rate stabilization fund is well financed to weather any energy price spikes and volatility. Neighboring towns pay double what we pay per kilowatt hour of electricity and Sean will keep it that way.
Maintaining our reliable power
Making sure we continue to make capital expenditures in our critical electrical infrastructure will be a priority for Sean. This means making sure our systems are ready and hardened to make it through weather events so that our lights stay on when other towns go out.
Reinvesting in Braintree
Sean is dedicated to reinvesting in Braintree with new partnerships and support. Whether its economic development to improve our town's finances or environmental improvements for all to enjoy, BELD has a role to play and Sean hopes to be a part of it.
